How to config Firefox to open new pages in tab or windows?
Well, this is actually very very easy thing. But, as one of my friend couldn’t find this option himself, I feel that I should be telling my readers too. If any of my readers overlook this option, now you can config your Firefox to do exactly what you want to do.
Just go to Tools –>> Options.
After that click on the Tabs. You will see “New pages should be opened in:”, there are two options to choose.
Choose the options that you want and click OK. As you can see, you can configure other options such as Always show the tab bar, Warn me when closing multiple tabs or etc. Make yourself familiar with Options menu in applications, it could help you customize the applications as the way you want it.
Download whole website easily
Sometimes it is quite frustrating that you can’t browse your favorite website while you’re overseas and the hotel will charge you ridiculous amount for wifi access.
If you’re a webmaster and you may want to show off your website in a place where there is no internet? That’s where the need to download whole website comes in. HTTrack is the best tool for this job and it is open-sourced and absolutely free. So far, it works without any glitches for me for copying the contents of an entire site.
How to view feedburner subscriber counts from blogs that don’t display
Well, we are very curious with our competitions. Sometimes, we really want to know how much of the subscribers do they have too? For me, I haven’t publicly shown my feed subscriber counts yet even though I am having a quite impressive number for me.
Well, anyway, if you want to view the feedburner counts of the blogs that don’t display, you might be able to see it if you’re lucky. In fact, lucky here means those blog owners should have got change of mind and should be stupid too.
Here’s how to achieve this.
This is my feed address.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/BridgeToNova
If you want to see my subscriber, you should type in the address bar as follow.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/BridgeToNova
What do you see now?
I’m not lying to you. You can’t see my counts because I know this trick and I’ve already prevented from it by deactivating in my feedburner dashboard. But hey, there are a lot of bloggers out there who don’t know this and you can check their feed counts.
How to disable UAC in Windows Vista
If you are using Windows Vista like me, you must be familiar with the following dialog box, don’t you? This is because of Windows Vista new addition security feature called User Account Control (UAC).
Some people gave up on Vista and return to XP because of UAC. Well, it is quite surprise to know that some people couldn’t figure out how to disable UAC and they simply blame on Microsoft. These people are really pathetic.
Let me show you how easy it is to disable UAC.
1. Simply go to Start Menu –>> Control Panel –>> User Accounts
2. After that simply click on Turn User Account Control on or off as shown in the picture below.
3. You will see the last time UAC dialog to click Continue.
4. And then rebooted your computer.
Simple, huh? Enjoy your Vista!
Which size is the world’s largest?
Have you ever wonder how big the TV can go? As of now, the world’s largest, biggest television is 150-inch high-definiton plasma TV unveiled by Panasonic.
The giant TV features an 8.84 million pixel image resolution. Its screen is the equivalent of nine 50-inch sets, with an effective viewing area of 11 feet. This is a step up from Panasonic previous by-then world’s largest 103 inch plasma.
Even though Panasonic not yet announce the price of 150 inch, for 103 inch, it cost $70,000 when it launched.
When I was young, the biggest TV I know of is 29 inches. It’s quite funny when I look back time. I feel like the future will be funnier and funnier as technology advances on.

How to configure default Ctrl+Enter setting in Firefox
I have told you guys about how to type web addresses more quickly. Ctrl+Enter will fill you up .com. But what if you access to .net site more often and you want to change the default Ctrl+Enter to automatically fill you up .net not .com. How can you do it?
It’s easy just download URL Suffix Add-ons for Firefox. After installing the Add-ons, go to Tools –>> Add-ons. And then Choose the URL Suffix and click on Options.
You will see the URL suffix configuration dialog box as follow.
See? You could even configure for Enter behaviour, not just Ctrl + Enter. But I find it quite annoyance as most of the websites I surf are end with various suffix.
How to change Outlook startup folder
Microsoft Outlook display the Outlook Today page when you first start up since very earlier versions, but for me, it’s a quite useless page since I just want to read my email.
I always change Outlook default setting by digging into Advanced Options via Tools –>> Options and then change the default folder. Hey but there’s an easier way to do this.
Just click on the Customize Outlook today button on the upper right corner of your Outlook as in the following pic.
After that you will see the following screen.
Be sure to uncheck, “When starting, go directly to Outlook Today” checkbox. The default for these would make Outlook to go directly to your inbox. If you prefer to go Outlook to any other folder than your inbox, you can choose any folder you want by click on Choose Folders button.
Hope this tip would help you make more productivity.
Recover your lost Excel passwords
I enjoy Microsoft Excel a lot. In fact, a lot of my daily usage and my budget plans are normally done in Microsoft Excel. As I used more and more Excel and contain a lot of confidential data in Excel file, I need to keep it as securely as possible.
I love Microsoft Office for their invention of Password protection feature since earlier versions of Office. Their Password protection made me feel save from my friends and co-workers, who are very curious about all my files in my computer. But one of the bad thing is that, as I’ve got a lot of password, sometimes I forgot the password of the file that contain all my budgets for the last whole year.
I was sweating a lot. But then Excel password recovery program (link) save me from disaster. This software is really a great deal. It checks up to 140,000 passwords per second, that is four times faster than it’s competitors.
So if you’ve encountered a password forgot nightmare like I do, you don’t have to sweat anymore. Just use that program!
Adobe is spying on us
We all are worried about our privacy on the World Wide Web. With technology advancing and bad boys are releasing bad things every day, we all have to install the antivirus and antispyware that we think would protect us from evil.
We normally ignore that our trusted applications might sometimes be tracking on us. Even if their intention is to improve their program not to invade our privacy, I do mind.
Let’s take a look at Adobe InDesign CS3.
Thanks to Dan from uneasysilence, he noticed that when you start Adobe InDesign CS3, the applications try to connect to 192.168.112.207. Yes it is look like an internal IP address. But hey, take a look again, it is not! It is actually connecting to 192.168.112.2O7.net. You see? Really evil, huh?
Dan find out that 192.168.112.2O7.net is owned by Omniture, a huge behavioral analytics firm.
Well, Adobe says they want to know more about their users. But, in my opinion, putting behavior analysis software in an application without informing the user is really bad thing. But the worst thing is that the 2O7.net URL was chosen to spoof it like a local address. They are intentionally spying on us. I don’t know about how other people would feel, but for me, I’ve lost trust in Adobe.
Avoid tele-marketers by using disposable phone number
Let’s start the new year with the best tip. I’ve told you guys about how to avoid spammer by using one-time disposable email services. That could really save you from a lot of email spammers. But what about telemarketers? It is quite annoying to receive a call from someone you don’t know and talking about the product you’re not interested at all. Yeah, nowadays, spammers are everywhere.
I’ve found a website called Numbr, which provide disposable US phone numbers. This service is very useful especially if you want to list your phone numbers in MySpace, Facebook or any other social networks.
I’ve no idea about their business model as they provide this service absolutely free. You can forward to any US landline or mobile phone no. After one month, your number will expire, but you can renew for free in your control panel. The best of all, their website states that your number will never be reused.
