How to enable telnet in Vista
Sep 3rd, 2007 by Jason
When I try to use telnet feature in Vista, I couldn’t use it. After scrolling through Microsoft help, I learn that you need to enable it in Vista first.
Go to Start –>> Control Panel –>> Programs and features –>> Turn Windows features on or off
After that, check Telnet Client and click ok.
That’s it. You can use telnet in Vista from Run command or Command prompt now.

Thanks – a useful tip.
Thanx really useful tip
Thanks very much, this was a useful tip. Can’t believe it isn’t enabled in Vista by default! That seems kinda kooky.

OMG!!1! Thanks, I’ve been trying to do that forever!
mine says “error has occurred not all changes have been accounted” or something like that and its not working each individual time…. help!!!
thanks that was odd it didn’t come by default—- good to know
Thanks, I got a new machine at work and this helped alot, for work purposes.
Didn’t work for me — just locks up doing nothing [not even an indeterminate progress bar, just an empty one for 15 minutes till I kill the process]. Luckily, PuTTYtel works, so this isn’t too bad.
